Rustic DIY Wedding Details Exposed #4: Wood Centerpieces
As I described in a previous post, part of our wedding centerpieces will consist of natural log slices for the mason jars to sit on.
Update: Log slices- check!!
A couple months ago, someone on Craigslist listed that they had a giant birch tree they needed to get rid of.
Me: SB!! We’re going to the country to get some LOGS!! And you’re going to have to lift them…K, thx
So, we got the logs and we finally got around to slicing them this past weekend. And when I say got around to it, I mean it finally stopped raining in Portland for 1/2 a day to get this done.
SB set up a jig to hold the log and went to town on cutting off beautiful little birch slices for me.
Next up: sanding and sealing the slices so they don’t crack as they dry out. As far as random slices of wood go, they are even prettier than I had hoped. The bark has a great texture and color.
