Etsy to the Wedding Rescue

Well, we made/crafted/constructed a whole lot of things for our wedding.  (I will be posting lots more about that later)

While we did a lot ourselves, I also leaned on Etsy to cover some other details.  I used Etsy not only to have finished custom items made, but also to find great base items to add my personal touches to.

Here is a little rundown of everything from our wedding via Etsy!  (I snagged these pictures off of our amazing photographer’s website, Powers Studios.  So, sorry for the low resolution!)

I wanted the bridesmaid dresses to have a vintage feel and to be really fun.  Sohomode in NYC makes these gorgeous tea dresses from vintage fabrics.  She was great about letting me pick out patterns and sent me swatches of fabric to confirm they were exactly what I wanted.   She made each dress custom to the girls’ measurements and even sent me the extra fabric for a side project.  They turned out fabulous!

I loved the dresses so much, we had Sohomode make the flower girl dresses as well.  They looked SO cute! I made some blue fabric flowers just like the ones I made for the ring bearer pillow to pin on the dresses.

To match the fun bridesmaids, the guys needed some great accessories as well.  TuxandTulle made the ties and pocket squares with as much personality as the dresses.  She was also fabulous and let me pick out exactly what fabrics I wanted. They came out awesome! (More about those here.  I made all the boutonnieres and will be posting about those later as well!)

So, I make jewelry.  Bet I made my own for the wedding, right?  Nope!  I got a little overwhelmed with my to-do list the last month and found Victoria Camp on Etsy.  I found a necklace I liked the concept of on her site and she was so helpful.  She made a custom necklace for me the SAME DAY!  I loved it so much I also commissioned her to make my earrings and bracelet.

I hunted around for a sash for my dress, but everything seemed way overpriced or over decorated.  I couldn’t justify spending $300 on what was basically just a ribbon!  I attempted to make a chiffon flower myself, but the result wasn’t quite as clean as I had hoped.  (Yeah- i.e. UGLY haha)  I found these beautiful flowers from PresumpuousMe.  She let me purchase just the flowers without centers or backs so I could sew on the vintage-style rhinestone buttons I found from BeautifulTreasureBox.  I went to my local fabric store for some ivory ribbon and attached everything.  I then had the seamstress affix the sash to the dress.   I got an extra flower to make a matching hair clip as well.  Voila!  I saved a lot of money and got exactly what I wanted.

We wanted to incorporate a Ketubah into our wedding ceremony, but wanted something a little more modern.   Naomi uses her custom artwork to incorporate whatever text you’d like.  She provided us with quite a few text options to help us in writing our own.  In the end, we decided to write our own vows and have that as the text.  It turned out beautifully and we are in the process of hanging it in the living room!

I wanted to give my lovely ladies a gift they could use on the wedding day, as well as after the fact.  I found Inges‘ adorable clutches.  She custom made 5 of them for me with the blue ribbon and lace.  She was great to work with and had a very fast turn-around!  I took the remaining fabric from the bridesmaid dresses and made some more fabric flowers to pin on to match each girl.

I found these amazing little birch flowers from a seller in the Philippines, AccentsandPetals.  I hot-glued them to a couple pieces of ribbon and used them to sit on top of each place setting, next to our personalized Magnet Favors.

And there you have it!  I love Etsy! :)
