Take a guess again?

I posted these a few weeks ago.  I mentioned I was starting a fun little project.

I just also acquired these puppies and they are way better than the first batch.  They have much more interesting shapes and sizes.   I now have plenty to do what I need.

No guesses? :)   I hope to get working on them soon to show you!

Gift wrapping like I meant it

This happens to me more than it should.  It is someone’s birthday, or event, or a holiday.  I’m on the ball and I have a present… but then I totally space out on the fact that I need to wrap said present.

Que the panic and crafty MacGyver-ness.

Here is something I whipped up last weekend:

No wrapping paper?  No problem.  I took an old grocery bag and cut out a rectangle from the area without text.  I turned it inside out and wrapped the present.  This was still missing something.  I went to my paper drawer and found a scrap of this cute patterned paper, but needed to do something to make it look like more than a scrap piece of paper.  Paper punch to the rescue!  I had purchased this Martha Stewart lace punch for some wedding crafts, and it came in handy yet again.

One edge with the punch and it suddenly looked much cuter.

Ta da!  Topped with a hemp bow and it actually looked like a present!

Warning: The following recipe is addicting.

Seriously addicting.  Like I think about it when I’m not eating it.

I went to a ladies night recently and the lovely host made this dish.   I then stalked her for the recipe.  Success.

The recipe comes from Smitten Kitchen who adapted it from a couple other places. (Here is the picture from her website to entice you)

The recipe calls for cilantro or parsley.  I think cilantro wins hands down in creating the best flavors.  I am sure parsley would be equally yummy, but  I could eat cilantro by the handful.   SB isn’t a huge fan of chickpeas, so in the multiple times I have recreated this, I have also swapped out chickpeas for wheatberries and/or barley- both were delicious!  Definitely make some extra dressing if you plan to keep this overnight for leftovers.  The salad soaks things up and with a little dressing refresher the next day, is still just as amazing.
